‘Pinot Noir Rosé’
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada
Hard to imagine that this is A Sunday in August’s first ever rosé! Yet here we are, absolutely gobsmacked at this brisk, flinty take on a blushy summer wine, brought to you by winemaking maverick, Michael Shindler. Farmed from a single, dry-farmed organic vineyard in Peachland, BC, the grapes were destemmed and underwent a 2-day of semi-carbonic ferment, followed by 5 months in neutral oak and bottled without fining or filtration. Almost like your aunt rummaged through her bag for a candy and came up with the strawberry-wrapped one – sapid, stemmy & red-fruited with notes of tangerine, yuzu, watermelon rind, cranberry cocktail, prickly pear, white flowers and Tropicana orange mango juice without a lick of tannin. With only 240 cases made, this is a whiff of the west coast that we can’t get enough of, perfect to pair with a bag of chips for dinner.
