Maison aux Lorettes is an estate situated in the sun-soaked rolling hills on the north side of the Gironde estuary in the Blaye-CĂŽtes de Bordeaux appellation. Because of their blissful-sounding environment, surrounded by woodland, agriculture, moderate temperatures and fairy-tale fog, they are able to produce a style of Bordeaux for new generations- one that with incredible drinkability and freshness not typically associate with the region. This is a biodynamic, no sulphur-added, modern take on Merlot. But make no mistake, this Bordeaux cuts a fine and familiar figure with notes of cooked blue and black fruit, spice and cigar box with supple, round tannins and a lengthy finish. This is like getting dressed up with no place to go - it reminds us that we can break out the silks when we want to take a break from athleisure but have no plans other than Netflix.
