Ewald and Brigitte Tscheppe's farm âWerlitsch' has become a synonym for some of the worldâs greatest white wines. Handpicked from old vines on the marl & clay Opok soils â a local chalky marl, which builds the foundation of the land and gives the wines their singular character. Morillon (aka Chardonnay) is destemmed, and lightly macerated before going through malolactic fermentation (getting creamy!) and ageing for two years with its lees (getting complex!). This chard is ruggedly classic and can taste its own humanity, like Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights, that tortured antihero archetype we will never let go of. Charming, lucky charms, dewy meadow, underripe green melon with rind, chalk, frozen peach, sheep yoghurt, stalagmites & sweet wood. Open on the eve of your next birthday, this one is for saluting the future & disentangling the past.
