'A Grana'

Albariño, Rías Baixas, Spain

An understand and truly non-judgmental wine you can trust with your whole heart. Alberto Nanclares and Silvia Prieto work five hectares of vines (predominantly albariño), on the coast of Galicia. Their goal is to produce classic and age-worthy albariños that reflect the unique characteristics of the grape, with little intervention in the cellar. The 'A Graña’ vineyard is in Sanxenxo (SW Spain, along the Atlantic ocean), with 30 year old, salty-and-thick-skinned albariño vines, planted on sandy granitic soils (which amp up the aromatics on this zippy grape). Fermented mostly in (tannin encouraging) chestnut cask, on the lees for nine months to add depth, body & integrate aromatics. Orchard flower, apricot cobbler, lime zest, salt cured lime, angular leesy-ness, sucking on a stone because you’re thirsty, unripe white peach, bark & nutmeg cream. Pour alongside fish tacos and coleslaw.
