Plavina
Dalmatia, Croatia
A juicy, savoury and undeniably Mediterranean red. SladiÄ Ante is a family winery in Plastovo that rests on a hill above the town of Skradin, near the Krka National Park in Croatia (all household place names, right?!). Their work focuses on regional varieties, soil health and utilizing the cooling influence of the River Krka and the Adriatic Sea to produce region-reflecting jewels. FUN FACT! Their estate sits where a river once ran which has enriched the soil and helped create a lot of limestone â rivers dissolve calcium carbonate from existing rocks and carry these minerals where they accumulate and the limestone forms! Plavina is a rare, bright and herbaceous red grape that comes to us having been aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months to soften and solidify. Juicy cherry, sun-dried plum, cinnamon, slick minerals, dry earth & herbs bedecking every nook and cranny. Enjoy with your next Sunday roast beef dinner.Â
