A classic and savoury Slovenian red for the arborist in us all. Certified biodynamic and family owned and operated, they are situated in Istria on a rolling hillside with an enviable view of the Adriatic, their vines, and olive trees, stretch from the salt-soaked coastline to higher hinterland. A blend of earthy merlot (60%) and spiced, fruity pinot noir (40%) that sees five days on skins to keep tannin extraction under control. Late summer morning in a coming of age film, highbush blueberry, PEPPER spice, a dry, old wood cask, with bright raspberries & red currants inside. Enjoy with a platter of grilled zucchini, while looking up, “what vegetables masquerade as fruits?”.
