'Bizkaiko Txakolina'

Hondarribi-Zuri, Basque Country, Spain

The type of joyous white ready to whisk you away to a small Mediterranean island without a second thought. Bodega Itsasmendi is an ever-evolving winery that began in 1994, founded on respect for the environment and pride in the region & its grapes. Grown on hillside soils at an average height of 50-200 metres above sea level, with a distinctly Atlantic climate. Sourced from 18 different sustainably grown plots, the hondarribi-zuri (pronounced on-dar-ee-bee zoo-ree) grape has a complex personality, full of citrus, florals & a distinct minerality. Fermented in stainless steel tanks to retain the fresh aromatics, this wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation and therefor is all about the CriSpNesS. Billowing white flowers, lemon-lime gummy worms, mandarin orange water & underwater cave (like The Rescuers ‘pirate’s cave’ scene circa 1977) minerality. Pair with shellfish of all kinds, this cutie is here to please.
