‘Blanc d’Argile R-19’

If you’re the type to sit in front of great works of art for ages, you’ll love this gleaming Champagne from Vouette et Sorbèe. Like a Georgia O’Keefe painting, this languid & lush blanc de blancs is a touch demure but unfurls with great drama, unafraid to show its zest for life and maybe a nip or two! Chalk that up to the unique soils this wine comes from, closer in composition to Chablis than Champagne – all lean, mineral precision with a snap of brisk, acid-driven structure. Sourced from a small parcel in Briaunes, this was made in the house style – that is, without fining, filtration or added dosage. Pungent on the nose with nougat and citrus, followed by yellow fruit, briny citrus, celery leaf, almond frangipane, smoked hay & an iridescent sort of fine-grained minerality. Inspired and incredibly fancy, we’d be chuffed to introduce this to our parents and with their blessing, be joined in holy matrimony with this wine.
