‘Vignes d’Eccussol’

Gamay, Beaujolais, France

Whatever the opposite of an ‘unsung hero’ is, Gamay is it. The comforting, silky, red fruit, high-toned energy and party girl attitude make it one of the most celebrated grapes in the world of natural wine. Not sure what to pair with something spicy? Grab a bottle of Beaujolais - the esteemed home of Gamay in France and arguably the motherland for teaching many Gen X, Y, and Z producers the gospel of low-intervention viniculture. Chateau Thivin has been producing classic Beaujolais for 6 generations in the Cîte de Brouilly, one of the 10 cru villages in Beaujolais. In addition to their cru offerings, Les Vignes d’Eccussol is their fresh, everyday wine. Made in the semi-carbonic method (both the juice ferments as well as within the whole grapes themselves, causing them to burst), this wine drinks like a dreamy river of raspberries, strawberries and cherries, with a touch of light spice, and crunchy acidity.
