âLes Tuffeauxâ
Chenin Blanc, Loire Valley, France
A minerally-moreish, nectarous and demi-sec chenin for lovers of cake toppers and eternal devotion. The Chidaine estate began in 1989 with four hectares and now extends over 45 that are regeneratively farmed and biodynamically tended, spread over the communes of Montlouis-sur-Loire and Vouvray. FUN FACT! âLes Tuffeauxâ is a reference to the soil type in Montlouis called âtuffeâ, or soft white limestone! The 30 to 90-year-old chenin blanc vines were picked late (think MORE sugar development) and slowly pressed to pull a little bit more plushness from this full and nectarous harvest. The wine was aged for a year on its lees for richness, and bottled with 15 grams of residual sugar to meet the natural acidity right where its at, and give us something to chew on with our sweet tooth. If you love a grape, you love it in all its forms, and that means perfectly sweet! Get on board and let your shoulders down! Almond crisps, charred pineapple, lanolin, cutting meyer lemon, slate washboard & peaches locked in a cage of salty minerality. Enjoy with Crottin de Chavignol, nasturtium blossoms and a drizzle of buckwheat honey.
