An aromatic, fruit forward and savoury-grounded Portuguese red blend. Anna Jorgensen took over the property from her parents in 2019, and began transitioning their 400 hectares in the Vidigueira from monoculture to polyculture, taking them from large scale winery, to a farm (herdade) that also makes wine. Annaâs big changes have included decreasing the vineyard area from 240 to 64 hectares (!), collecting in-depth knowledge of their varying soil compositions, and beginning to seek out old vineyards of regional grape varieties to take from cuttings for propagation in their vineyards, WOW! FUN FACT! They have welcomed in geese, chickens, sheep, donkeys, cows and the transplantation of 2000 centenarian olive trees (with a unique genetic heritage) from a neighbouring property (where they would have been disposed of in place of new plantings) in the name of ecosystem! The blend of âthe most tannin grape variety in Portugalâ, aragonez, meaty, spiced syrah, floral, herbaceous touriga nacional, smoky, fruit-forward alicante bouchet and spiced trincadeira. Cherry spread, blackberry brush, drying flowers, wet leather, red peppercorn florality & smoky spice. Try with fondu, cured meats and roast beasts.
