Irouléguy is a teeny, tiny appellation in French Basque Country; about as far southwest as you can go in France before you cross the Pyrenees into northern Spain. Best known for hype ciders, this region also produces coveted wines in all colours. This blend of Tannat, Cab Sauv & Franc is dense and moody. Cassis and cherry notes are countered by a crunchy, chewy depth and an iron-y, bloody twang. Toss this badass bottle into your weather-beaten leather satchel, hop on the back of a wild stallion, and ride off into the sunset toward the magical unknown promise of the year 2023 with Johnny Cash playing cosmically in the background.
