āElle Est Pas Bulle la Vieā
Chenin Blanc, Loire, France
We think Chenin may be our mother, our true mother, or maybe we just hope, desperately. Passionate and generous winemakers Catherine and Pierre Breton have been tending their vines organically with biodynamic principles since the 1990s. They stand out as a natural winery with an updated spin on traditional Loire tastes. Fermented without fining, filtering or dosage (adding sugar or yeast), allows for a naturally rich and fully expressive bubble. The base wine is Chenin from 2016 (!), grown on clay and flint soils, bringing the wine down to earth with enveloping arms of minerality. Sourdough doughnut, lemon oil, bruised peaches, apple skin, salty pebbles, fermented honey & an excitable melody composed by bursting golden bubbles. Drink outside, while watching your lovingly draped laundry billow in soft September gusts.
