'As Xaras’

A rousing, graceful and mineral Galician mencia. Fedellos was started in 2013 by Luis Taboada and winemakers Curro Barreño and Jesús Olivares in the gorgeous, north-west slopes of Ribeira Sacra. Farming organically, the steep, terraced vineyards of regional vines are only worked by the tenderest of touches, and showcase the regional influences as clear as the nose on your face. 'As Xaras' is the latest addition to their lineup, made from old mencia vines grown across two different vineyards on either side of the cooling River Xares. Gently whole-bunch macerated for two months to set in a gloriously delicate texture, then aged for 12 months in old French oak to solidify the innate elegance. Pretty as a butterfly migration, dusty strawberry, morning mist, ground white pepper, chalky & a tart cherry acidity that stands out like a sore (but beautiful) thumb. Enjoy with moules frites and the new season of White Lotus.
