âGallardĂa'
Cinsault, Itata Valley, Chile
An overachieving, light, and full-hearted red. Fourth generation winemaking brothers, Marco Antonio and SebastiĂĄn De Martino, work the 1934 founded estate with a focus on sustainable agriculture, horse plowing and tradition. âGallardĂa' is a tribute to Itata's coastal vineyards, and the birthplace of Chilean viticulture (with vines dating back to 1551!). Here, 35-year-old, own-rooted, fruit-forward and spiced cinsault bush vines from gentle, granite slopes are the star of the show. Grapes are destemmed and left for a 40 day maceration that locks in concentrated flavours and aromatics. Pale MAGENTA, sapid cherry coulis splatter, pine sap, digging for ore minerality, birds carrying herbs to make their nests, hibiscus tea & rhododendron garden. Serve chilled alongside roasted corn, dressed in parm, furikake & chilli flake.
