2021 'Himmelreich'
Riesling, Mosel, Germany  Â
If you are not yet part of the RIESLING fan club, let us offer you a ticket to the fantastical world beyond. Dr.Ulrich âUlliâ Stein is like the reclusive (possibly a scientist, but youâll never actually know) uncle youâve seen a total of three times in your whole life. He is a huge advocate for the importance of taking care of, and passing on, the stunning, frighteningly steep, low-yield & slate-packed vineyards of the Mosel (we need more Ullis in the world, donât we!?!). âHimmelreichâ is considered his â1er Cruâ vineyard, with 70 to 80+ year-old, ungrafted vines and a seriously proclaiming terroir of mostly blue slate. 15 grams of RS (residual sugar), this riesling has a plush viscosity, seamlessly balanced with fine and glittering minerality like a fishâs scales. Petrol wafts, waxy chew, salty lemon drop, lemongrass florality & how different the world may have been if Snow White bit into a green apple instead of red. Enjoy with pork shoulder & sautĂ©ed cabbage.
