A vitally mineral, spiced & fulfilling white from a scene-stealing producer brand new to Ontario. Carmen and Herbert Zillinger’s biodynamic farm is located in the southeastern part of the Weinviertal, between Vienna and the Slovenian border. Known mostly for bulk production their work has transformed the perception of the area, which hosts half the world's plantings of Grüner. Rivaling some of the best expressions from the more famous appellations of Wachau, Kamptal, and Kremstal these wines are a rare treat, proclaimed by renowned wine writer Jancis Robinson as ‘‘one of the most exciting producers anywhere’. The Horizont is intense and broad, a short time on skins pulling layers of surprising flavour. Greenish gold in colour, capers, rich in yellow apricot, vegetal vibes, smoky black spices, wild garlic & key lime that ricochets from cheek to cheek. Try with a steering bowl of pho.
