Pinot Noir' 2014
Santa Barbara County, USA
We couldnât resist this stunning back vintage from KitĂĄ, a wine project lead by Chumash winemaker, Tara Gomez, working out of the Santa Ynez Valley. The Chumash supported Gomez throughout her career, granting her a scholarship to study enology at Cal State and later, purchasing the Camp 4 vineyard and immediately hired her on as head winemaker! Sourced from the esteemed Hilliard Bruce vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills, this stunning Pinot Noir was aged in 80% new oak and 20% neutral French oak for 18 months, following the trend of lower alcohol, minimal interventions and more elegant profiles that weâre seeing from younger California producers. Cavernous depth, rich, ripe fruit & bright acid spell out a resounding success in the bottle â Boylanâs black cherry cola, rubbed rose petal, vanilla wafer, wet cobblestones & stemmy tannins with a white gloved finish. Get creative with the decanting & give this an aggressive swish in the nearest vase, biscotti jar or fish jug you can find.
