âDaje Machâ
Pelaverga Piccolo, Piemonte, Italy
An intriguingly rare single varietal red wine with an history shrouded in its unknown origin. Known for their vigour, often giving distinctive strawberry aromas that have been compared to Pinot Noir (but from Italy!), having blue-purple skin with grey accents due to (its typical) stunning yeast blooms â sounds like a Monet palette to us! All grapes are destemmed and macerated (pre-fermentation) for 72 hours, as well as put through a secondary maceration of about 15 days (post-fermentation) to extract these caressing & deep-rooted tannins. Violet velvet in texture AND colour, mysteriously peppery, black olive, black cherry, a hint of rolling tobacco & elderberry syrup. Drink with a slight chill, roasted rabbit & skillet scorched potatoes for a heartwarming treat.
