‘Macvin de Jura Blanc’

Chardonnay, Savagnin, Jura, France

What would be growing from trees or sprouting from the ground if Willy Wonka had a fortified bevy factory. The world famous wines of BĂ©nĂ©dicte and StĂ©phane Tissot are prized, punctuated & polished. Working with as minimal cellar intervention as possible and great biodynamic care in the vineyard, they represent some of the best the Jura has to offer. A fifty-fifty blend of sultry and umami-rich savagnin & lavish, lingering chardonnay is blended with distilled Jura marc (aka pomace spirit or pomace brandy) and aged two years in barrel, this light distillation locks in delicate sweetness. Shrivelled apricots, belted quince, soursop, baked oranges, whipped butter on toasted panettone, cardamom pods, salty tang & crystallized honey. Enjoy with Jura’s famous comtĂ© cheese or for dessert while reading The Paris Review’s Fall 2023 edition (don’t forget pages 71-96).
