'LâĂtre'
Syrah, Northern Rhone + Jura, FranceÂ
A zero-zero, spiced, aromatic, and unequivocally elegant syrah to HOLD TIGHT as it is beyond rare! We only received 12 bottles for the whole year, and each one is precious cargo. Originally from Ontario, winemaker Katie Worobeck developed an interest in wine and organic farming while studying, and moved to France for a DREAM job with the legendary Anne and Jean-François Ganevat. Today Katie works her three-hectare parcel of old vines planted over limestone and marl in the Sud Revermontâs famed lieu-dit, âLes Varronsâ. With a keen focus on soil health, she farms organically, growing chardonnay vines alongside a few rows of gamay and old hybrids. FUN FACT! She plants trees and shrubs amongst the vines and is working to rotate livestock amongst the parcels to promote diversity! After losing much of her harvest to frost in 2024 (a tough year in Jura), Katie headed to the Northern Rhone to pick some nĂ©gociant, or purchased instead of grown yourself, syrah â a grape she was very excited to work with! The syrah grapes were fermented as whole bunches for 14 days to trap tannin, nuance and aromatics before spending a year in cask softening. Blackberries in moss, nasturtiums, liquorice and herbs in bloom, sour red plums, peppery arugula & a field of boulders. Pour alongside steak tartare, thin cut fries and caesar salad a plenty.Â
