RosĂ© d’un Jour'

Cabernet Sauvignon & Grolleau, Loire Valley, France

One gorgeous, off-dry & mineral-driven rosĂ©, coming right up! From biodynamic trailblazer Mark Angeli in Anjou, this rosĂ© came about mostly by accident! During the 1997 harvest, Angeli accidentally left some grapes on the vine too long which concentrated their sugars, resulting in an off-dry rosĂ© with an unusually elevated alcohol content. He submitted the wine under the RosĂ© d’Anjou appellation and unfortunately, was summarily rejected by the authorities. But he pressed on, classifying the wine as a Vin de France and making its title a pun on the appellation that spurned him – cheeky! Bottled (with real beeswax!) shortly after harvest with a homeopathic dose of volcanic sulphur, this is luscious, exuberant & incredibly rich – Campino strawberry, damask rose, sorrel, white pepper & luminescent acid like a pair of red ruby slippers. Pair with spring’s first rhubarb & a peck on the cheek.
