âMaceration En Quatre Visâ
Chardonnay & Savagnin, Jura, France
A textural, mineral and floral Jura skin contact to lose your head over. Marnes Blanche was started in 2006 by Pauline and GĂ©raud Fromont as ambitious mid-20-year-olds with big dreams. Love to see it! They began with a white marl parcel in Cesancey and over the years have accumulated vineyard plots in Vincelles and Ste-AgnĂšs, including rare, 100-year-old vines. These were once bottles we snapped up while travelling, and are available for the first time in Ontario with this release. FUN FACT! The vines have an average age of 40 years with a few centenarians and old grape varieties such as melon-queue-rouge and savagnin muscatĂ©! The blend of zesty, plump, chardonnay (80%) and spiced, floral savagnin (20%) was macerated for 21 days in whole bunches for big extraction before being aged between amphora and wooden foudres for 22 months to coalesce. Nettle tea bitters, big corsage, lemon and lime zest, linden, cumin, porous plushness, yellow apple & mighty minerality. Pour alongside Epoisses, a good decant and season one of Heated Rivalry.Â
