Poulsard
Poulsard, Jura, France
A spiced, tactile and quite frankly stunningly interesting Jura poulsard to sit on like the goose that laid the golden egg. Pauline and GĂ©raud Fromontâs winery, Marnes Blanche, was started in 2006 as ambitious and passionate 20-somethings, who soon came to be known as "the future of the Jura". T#nopressure Together they began with a parcel in Cesancey and over the years have accumulated a total of 15 hectares, including rare, 100-year-old vines in Vincelles and Ste-AgnĂšs. Certified organic since 2013, they use many biodynamic practices and an intentionally limited use of sulphur to let their terroir shine. These are bottles that only recently began coming into the province in teeeeny tiny quantities and we are so lucky to have them! The white-opal-dressed vineyard is planted with a mix of 10-50 year-old poulsard vines that were hand harvest and fermented as whole bunches for ten days to extract character and charisma. Next, the grapes were pressed directly into wooden barrels and aged for 10 months to piece together the most elegant structure and scene-stealing nuances. Homemade cola meets Arizona iced tea, potpourri, raspberry patch, rubber tree, ruby red grapefruit bitters, dried mushrooms, pomegranate jello, red miso salinity, sand, stone & a drizzle of balsamic. Enjoy alongside pasta amatriciana and heated, but tiny, quickly resolved disagreements on arts and culture.
