'Munjebel CR Rosso' 2021
Nerello Mascalese, Sicily, Italy
A rare and revered terroir-driven Sicilian specialty cloaked in tannin and mystique. Immersed in wine from a young age as the son of a Belgian wine broker, Frank Cornelissen fell in love with wine early on, laying the groundwork for his famous grape-soaked future. The Campo Re vineyardâs party ungrafted 70+ year old vines sit at 735 meters above sea level, in soils characterized by their depth. Bunches are destemmed, lightly crushed and left for 50 days on skins to bring the wine into a more hefty nebbiolo likeness. 18 months in tank and another 18 in bottle allows for a world-altering reconciliation. Wild raspberry bush, cherry blossoms, cinchona, tender dill meets cooked fennel, fresh date & old fire pit ripe with ash. Open on a super blood moon.Â
