'Orange Star'
Muscat Ă petit grain & Grenache Gris, Languedoc, France Â
A gentle, yet firm aromatic orange from an historic estate. Olivier Coste now directs his familyâs ancestral Domaine Montrose founded in 1701 in the small commune of PĂšzenac. The familial plot has passed through nine generationsâno surprise that preserving the land for generations to come is at the forefront of Olivierâs process. Planted on calcareous soil (calcium-rich clay of marine life passed) the floral Muscat Ă Petit Grain and stonefruit-ed Grenache Gris make up this bright, coastal orange. Each grape sees seven days of skin contact before masterful blending, concrete fermentation and stainless steel aging maintaining the fruitâs innate freshness. Early evening park bench wine, lima orange gingham, sea-soaked and sun-dried grapefruit, salted mint and stone fruit salad, gentle wave-breaking tannins. Pair with Mamma Mia (2008) and, of course, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) projected on an old garage door.Â
