‘La Mercy-Dieu’
Sauvignon Blanc, Sancerre, France
A precise, fruited and tantalizingly textbook Sancerre ideal for discovering this famed appellation. Based in the village of Bué-en-Sancerre, Domaine Bailly-Reverdy's 22 hectares of vines have been in the family since the turn of the century, and are dedicated to the GREAT sauvignon blanc (70%) and pinot noir (30%). Currently led by Franck Bailly and nephew Aurelien, they are keeping the good family name alive, practicing ‘lutte raisonnée’ in the vineyard (sustainable practices) & producing beautifully classic Sancerre. FUN FACT! Sancerre is the most recognized appellation for sauvignon blanc in the Loire Valley and arguable, the world #bestofthebest! Here the fragrant and illustrious sauvy b is sourced from all the Domaine’s plots outside of Chavignol. In doing so, the full range of different Sancerre terroirs are represented from 'terres blanches' (white clay-limestone) to 'caillottes' (pebbly limestone), and 'argiles à silex' (flint and clay). Leesy frankness, honeysuckle vines, yellow plum, vine peach, quince sneaking into a citrus basket & aristocratic minerality. Enjoy with a chive omelette and endive salad.
