Another role model to add to our flip book of femme-tastic winemaking inspiration. In 2004 Jutta Ambrositsch left her position as an art director to become a kick-butt Viennese vintner. She leased a .25 hectare plot, making just 650 litres of wine her first vintage (let us not forget, slow nâ steady wins the race!). She now tediously tends to four hectares of vineyards on either side of the Danube river following the pragmatic âLutte RaisonnĂ©e-Principleâ, aka chemical treatments are used only when absolutely necessary â for Jutta this means that herbicides/weed killers, insecticides, and fungicides are not used and green manuring is utilized across all vineyards. FUN FACT! Jutta farms parcels in some of Viennaâs most famous vineyards: Rosengartl, Reisenberg, Sievering & Bisamberg if you ever fancy a visit! 50% fermented on the skins for five days & four months on lees to bring textural intrigue to this high-toned, cool-climate cutie-pie. Saline, green pear heavy fruit cocktail, new bike tires, pineapple core, white flowers opening, runny honey & herbal tea. Enjoy with a pink sunburn and a satisfied lay on the couch.
