Scheurebe Terroir'
Scheurebe, Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia
Like the mystifying substitute teacher you had back in middle school with a foreign (Australian) accent your poorly-travelled ears could not yet identify. The Lightfoot family are seventh generation farmers who mindfully cultivate the land with future generations in mind. The Annapolis Valley is a long, relatively narrow valley located on the western edge of Nova Scotia, resting between two mountain ranges, along the shores of the Bay of Fundy. Highly aromatic, scheurebe is a German grape variety â a riesling & wild vine cross â that is relatively rare in North America. In the vineyard, cool breezes aid in producing aromatic whites with intense fruit character, salinity and bright acidity â perfect for this grape. Hand-harvested, destemmed & macerated on skins overnight for the lightest of tannin extraction helps anchor the fruit-forward palate. Straw gold, warm peach nectar, green mango, leopard melon, propped up with brine, pebbles & key lime acidity. Pair with your grandparentâs German neighbourâs unrivalled schnitzel recipe!
