‘Sekt Cuvèe Royale ’22’
Pinot Blanc & Riesling, Rheinhessen, Germany
An angelic, concentrated and regal bubble to rival your fave Champagne. Treasured winemaker Alanna Lagamba (originally from Toronto #REPRESENT), ferments alongside her partner Martin Wörner, of Marto wines in Rheinhessen, Germany. Known for her visionary glou-glous, this cuvée is here to show us that she’s SO much more than a one-trick, pet-nat pony, though if you haven’t tried her Frauenpower line you need to. A Traditional or Champagne Method bubble, Alanna has been working towards this wine for YEARS and its first arrival to market is truly a dream realized. Nutty, floral pinot blanc and plump, zested riesling’s second fermentation is created with must from the latest harvest, and left for two years of ageing, growing in confidence on the lees until it’s ready to take the throne. Quince gelée on brioche, splintered lemongrass, yellow pear slices, lime marzipan & surfing minerality riding the yellow-tinted bubbly froth wave. FUN FACT! “Sekt”, or sparkling wine in Germany, is extremely popular, in fact, Germans drink more sparkling wine per capita than any other market in the world! Enjoy with a birthday breakfast: bacon, pastry and sturgeon caviar.
