An opulent chenin you’d find catching rays on the sand dunes 24/7. Winemaker Pieter Walser appears to be equal parts mad scientist, magician & true romantic, rolled into one. No wine is ever repeated, everything is a singular, semi-fluke, never to be made again. ‘Ultra’ is old bush vine, single vineyard chenin blanc grown by an unassuming young farmer, living in the middle of nowhere – his key to happiness & sanity, he is a closet raver (also the label inspiration). If you are diehard chenin fanatics like us, you know the feeling – tasting chenin is like collecting Pokemon, any country, any region, anytime, you gotta catch ‘em ALL! Only 1417 bottles were produced of this sweetie pie, talk about a rare jewel. Hay bale maze, sweet orange oil, ginger peel, lanolin, starting a fire with two stones, peaches & peach stones. Pair with seared lingcod & preserved lemon aioli.
