A savoury, textural and cool-season-ready BC pinot noir from a trying year. After spending most of his life at his family’s winery, Rajen Toor launched Ursa Major in 2016, joining the blooming scene of low intervention winemakers in BC’s Okanagan Valley. Working with what the valley has to offer year-after-year, they exist today as a prominent reference point for the province and a beloved staple across the lists of natural wine bars and restaurants with a local focus. Certified organically farmed at Windy Ridge Vineyard in Kaleden, BC, the grapes overlook Skaha Lake from their home on sandy loam and alluvial gravel from an ancient glacier and lake bed! 50% of the pinot was destemmed, 50% was left whole cluster, and 100% was macerated on skins for 14 days to pull a tongue-wrapping texture. Red potato skins, candy crabapple, salt and pink peppercorn, Glossettes, sticky tannins, hibiscus, true wild blueberry & autumn flowers mixing with leaves.
