‘Valli Rosso’
Barbera, Dolcetto, Croatina & Merlot, Piemonte, Italy
A bright, berried and PRO-FARMER Italian red for Adirondack chairs, lakeside wet wood docks and all your closest friends! Valli Unite has been an organic co-operative in Piemonte since 1981, making everything themselves, from wine to honey to salumi. Today, their winery is powered with solar energy and their vineyards are interfered with at an absolute minimum. Instead, they monitor the fungi and insect populations before using non-harmful options like orange extracts, copper and bee propolis (from their bees) when necessary. Their classical red blend of cherried, tart barbera, delicately floral dolcetto, berried croatina and earthy merlot spends five days on its skins before fermenting in cement and aging for 10 months to meld their individually fruit-frenzied ways. FUN FACT! The previous label stated: “Vogliamo i contadini! - Non c’è cibo, senza i contadini!”, which translates to “We want the farmers! - There is no food, without farmers!”, and we couldn’t be more #aligned! Blueberries coated in cacao, blueberry flowers, underripe raspberry bushes, leather change purse & a tongue-tickling plum-skin texture. Enjoy with a pullman’s lunch, a fisherman’s dinner or an early bird’s breakfast.
