Bianco G'
Grecanico, Carricante, Minella, Insolia, Sicily, Italy
Like an Italian fairy godmother, surprising us out of nowhere, here to give a rosy pep-talk, a tomato scented hug, and send us on our way. Predominantly 80 year-old bush-vine, lean & saline Grecanico (70%) was grown on the North face of Etna high at 800-1100 meters! Half the grapes spent a week on their skins, the other half included some bergamot-y Carricante along with fragrant Minella and fuller-bodied Insolia and were whole bunch direct pressed into a large, used wooden cask. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation (think ROUNDness) and was left on fine lees for 12 months. Donut peaches and intensely ripe citrus juices like a nectarous apertivo with hyper-minerality and intertwined smokiness typical of volcanic wines. Drink while listening to some serious slow-jamz and eating butter chicken roti.
