Where's The Pope'

Syrah, Adelaide Hills, Australia

Not your typical a-tad-over-extracted Australian syrah (aka shiraz), try more seriously-expressive-ripe-berry-scrumptiousness. Ochota Barrels is one of the most beloved natural wineries in Southern Australia. After skilled winemaker Taras Ochota passed suddenly in 2020, his wife Amber and the rest of the Ochota team have continued the project with passion & strength. The 100% sturdily-structured syrah grapes are from Onkaparinga Hills, McLaren Vale. FUN FACT! This is a more recent addition to the Ochota Barrels portfolio, with 2020 being the first vintage! Sourced from young, organic vines (planted in 1996), in the Green Room Grenache vineyard, sitting on a bed of rich n’ mineral schist & clay soils. Mostly whole bunch fermentation for pure tannin extraction, with 80% seeing short and gentle macerations with hand plunging (sounds like a fun pastime!) & 20% carbonic maceration for wistful aromatics. PLUM, maraschino commotion, charred wood, clove dental floss, pink peppercorn rub, bouillon, white sage, nervy dewberry & suede boots. Enjoy with beef, beef & more beef (veg friendly tho).
