‘XIC Rosat’

Trepat, PenedĂšs, Spain

From the famed family estate of AgustĂ TorellĂł Mata, a bright and floral rosĂ© with angular acidity. Started in 1959, the winery known for its dry and elegant Cava is now under the direction of Agustí’s two children, Gemma and Àlex. Not every winery can boast the ability to select fruit from 30+ year old vines, and operate in collaboration for more than 25 years with neighbouring farmers. Older vines mean they are producing concentrated top-tier juice and working with neighbouring farms allows a closer eye on the quality of fruit they acquire elsewhere. Trepat is indigenous to Catalunya, known for its thick purple skin, crunchy medium body and cinnamon strawberry profile. This Trepat rosĂ© sees a gentle five-hour soak before fermenting in tank to retain freshness and aging on lees for 3 months for texture. The return is lean white peaches and tart strawberry, a grandmother’s rosewood rosary dipped in the Mediterranean.
