‘Wildrosé’

Pinot Noir & Blauer Portugieser, Pfalz, Germany

From natural wine heartthrobs and fifth-generation winemakers, Daniel and Jonas Brand comes this Goth-y and romantic rosé that will do all kinds of crazy things to your heart. It may flutter, it may pound, it may straight-up stop. You may find yourself writing this rosé a love letter or trying to deliver it a bouquet of dead roses in the driving rain. It’s a completely normal reaction to drinking this wine. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Wildrosé isn’t wild like down to clown but rather wild like the wildness of first love, effervescent and intense, but at the same time weirdly tragic. Not that we’re in any way tied down to the dogma of seasonal drinking— drink Vinho Verde in January! Drink Côte-Rôtie in August! Who cares? Follow your heart!— but this is a winter rosé if we ever saw one, teetering on the border of darkest rosé and lightest red. It’s earthy and even low-key smoky, with homey, soul-warming aromas of cranberry sauce and no shortage of textbook natural wine snarl. Spontaneously fermented in neutral wood, unfined and unfiltered with no sulphur added. Plant-based products like herbal extracts or tea are used to strengthen the vines, which is so cute and hippie-(ish! *One last warning— some natural wines are here for a good time, not a long time. We highly recommend drinking this puppy over the course of one wild night: chug it like you’re raving at Berghain and are desperately in need of thirst-quenching. This wine won’t be at its best the next morning (just like you after a wild night of raving at Berghain))
