Pacina is both a hamlet just outside of Castelnuovo Berardenga (southeast of Florence), and the name of winemakers Giovanna and Stefano’s ancient (think, been in existence since the first millennium AD!) winemaking estate. FUN FACT! The town is named after the Etruscan god Pachna – the god that became Bacchus, the Roman god of wine and revelry. A newer release from the winery, ‘Donesco’ is made from young sangiovese vines, aged two years to calm their angsty ways. Bleeding rubies sitting atop an iron throne, plum preserves, sun-dried tomato, earth dust, black olive, mortadella on the grill, bulk barn spice aisle, black walnut & morello cherry. Enjoy (two bottles? three?) while experiencing a triple movie marathon including screenings of Donny Darko, Nasferatu & The Lighthouse.
