‘Tout Naturellement Macéré’
Riesling, Gewurtztraminer & Pinot Gris, Alsace, France
A citric, mineral and zero-zero Alsatian maceration for every generation. Mathilde and Florian Beck-Hartweg are part of a lineage of caring and talented winemakers spanning hundreds of years. By handling the manual labour themselves, the contact with their vines and soil allows them to stay in tune with the environment’s unstoppable fluctuation and better care for their prized land. A field blend of 30-year-old riesling, gewurtz and pinot gris vines grown in deep n’ rich silt soils that spent eight days on skins, before being pressed and aged for eight months. Grapefruit pulp, satsuma pith bitters and kumquat musk meld into one, then drop off like a gateway opening to another sip, leaving crumbling chalk tannins that coat tongue and teeth & a ripe apricot-ness carries us through. Enjoy with dried fruit tossed quinoa salads with a vinaigrette dressing.
