Vincent Marie’s five hectares of organic and biodynamically tended gamay, pinot noir, syrah, chardonnay, sauvignon, sylvaner and pinot auxerrois vines are aged from 5 to 120 years, and create five to seven cuvées annually. Located in the Auvergne’s Puy de Dôme, he asks us to consider, “is there a better place to make natural and living wine, with no added chemicals polluting our taste buds and standardizing flavours?”. ‘Fire & Looting’ is a blend of gushing, glamorous gamay (70%) and aromatic, prized pinot noir (30%) on granitic sand and basalt scoria—those classic black lava rocks with lots of small holes! Good sweat, burnt pineapple, caramelized coconut, poooool time, strawberry scratch n’ sniff wallpaper, grandma's jewellery box, tree bark, pepper stem & sechuan florality minus the spice.
