'Vino Arancione' 2022

Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, & Semillon, Adelaide Hills, Australia

This is health drink in wine form and tastes so dang good. A skin-contact blend of Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and SĂ©millon it is wildly aromatic with an energy that cannot be contained. Another stellar offering from Australia’s natural wine darling Anton Van Klopper of Lucy Margaux Farm (or Lucy M. as it is now technically known following a lawsuit from Bordeaux appellation Margaux AOP) operating in the Adelaide Hill’s Basket Range appellation. Made from three separate ferments (all with several months skin contact), then blended together before being bottled, the Arancione is an orange wine with broad shoulders, a plush mouthfeel and fine, chalky tannins. It is gorgeously rustic yet incredibly juicy with quince, fuzzy peaches, pineapple and orange - the most perfect Valencian orange whose sweetness you’ve now added to the long list of dragons you’re destined to chase. Pair with a fresh fish crudo swimming in segmented citrus vinaigrette and Duolingo exercises until you can pronounce “ah-ran-chee-own-ee” like a pro.
