From winemaker Anna Martens, "during the autumn of 2021, nature decided to take its own path in the winery…This cuvée is a blend of wines that usually would have been destined for our Palmento and Jeudi Rosato/Rosso labels. Each individual component in 2021 was not true to style but when blended together we found we were able to produce a balanced, energetic wine.” From the northern slopes of Mount Etna and the 90 year alberello (bush) vines that live there, a blend of explosively-elegant nerello mascalese (95% ) with a small amount (5%) of white and red grapes including deep nerello cappuccio, teinturier-treasure alicante bouschet, scent-ual grecanico, obscure minella & honeyed catarratto – each adding their own inflections to this delectable one-off! Lick-able herby wall paper, strawberry bushes, ash in the wind, salty lemon concentrate, wild salmonberry, your childhood pet rock & tongue coating sapidity. Pour alongside the friday of your choosing, but don’t forget, on Fridays we wear ROSSO!
