'Amphoré'

Gamay, Beaujolais, France

A RARE, and effortlessly ethereal, yet earthy zero-zero gamay. Romain des Grottes farms in the lower plains of Beaujolais, south of Brouilly. There he is practices high quality polyculture farming and no-addition winemaking. The vineyards cover about eight hectares that have been fully organic and Demeter certified since 2006, hosting vegetable gardens, fruit trees, grains and medicinal herbs between and around the vines. The forty-year-old vines are rooted in granite that brings freshness and minerality to the glass. Grapes see a very light maceration to keep things LIFTED. Aging takes place in four different sizes of handmade amphorae, three from Georgia and one tinaja from Spain. FUN FACT! The tinaja are slightly more ‘baked’, which they say contributes a more defined structure to the final blend! Fistfuls of thimbleberries slathered all over the place, red clay minerality, rainier cherry compote & moist earth meeting crumbly beach-land. Enjoy while dancing in your undies to ABBA, one of the few things in the musical world that will never truly become redundant.
