Bianco
Carricante, Grecanico, Catarrattto, Minella Bianca, Sicily, ItalyÂ
Can you hear RuPaul saying âtens, tens, tens across the boardâ, because we sure can. Anna Martens is like an insanely talented winemaking Cate Blanchett who commands rooms with her vivid storytelling & works on the edge of one of the most active volcanos in the world (talk about romantically monumental). The grapes are from two vineyards, one on the north western side of mount Etna from the contrada (sub zone of grey, volcanic sands) Nave and another on the east slope from the contrada Castle (black volcanic sands). A harmonious blend of mineral carricante, tropical grecanico, zesty catarratto & aromatic minella bianca from old, high altitude (1100-1200m) bush-vines. The grapes are direct pressed as whole bunches and fermented all together to create this cohesive storybook of sensations. A higher acidity that is all too perfectly carried across the tongue by the smooth aromatics and wistful mouthfeel that aging on fine lees for eight months lends. Taut yet supple, like a lycra swimsuit stretched over freckled hips, tart citrus, sweet white peach and dried pear warmth, with wistful flowering herbs & pronounced mineral saltiness. Drink when you have some serious world problems to solve.
