A charming white blend that is good today, tomorrow & many years from now. Tom Lubbe and his wife Nathalie along with oenologist Sam Harrop began Matassa in 2002. Naming the domain after an old Catalan word denoting forest thickets, as their property is surrounded with the plushest of woodlands, located at the base of the Pyrenees. Working with biodynamic and organic practices, these wines see as little intervention as possible, are scream their truth at you in every humble sip. 70 year old Grenache gris (70%) and macabeu (30%), directly pressed (grenache) & a 4-5 day maceration (macabeu) before eight months in Austrian cask. White peach cream, flint, jasmine vines, white pepper, passion fruit ice, wrinkled meteorite & gushing honeycomb. Let this one sit untouched for a bit, if you can handle it.
