‘Bianco Vio’

Viognier, Lazio, Italy

A seriously unique, complex and ready-set-go kinda zero-zero viognier. American winemaker Joy Kull caught the grape bug while working as a sommelier and swiftly realized her only option was to travel to a faraway land to expand her mind & dirty her hands. The goal of her wines is to be widely tried, easily understood & vastly appreciated. The 30-year-old viognier vines from volcanic sand are picked by hand and destemmed for 24 hours of light-grip-inducing maceration. FUN FACT! Viognier is not a typical grape for the region, but because a local co-op began making wine from it, many farmers planted and later ripped out the viognier vines when the co-op wouldn’t pay full price for the grapes! Joy found this rarely spared plot in the neighbouring Ischia di Castro and has been working with it since 2020! Reduction coloured by florals, fresh cardboard box meets cave, papaya meets underripe pear, lemon and lime zest, cool green grape in the summer familiarity, stems, tender leaves & a leesy texture. Enjoy alongside Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro.
