Petit Raffut'
Syrah, ArdĂšche, FranceÂ
New to Ontario, a potent and precise syrah that we would gladly walk barefoot through a subway terminal for a glass of! Sylvain Bock works in the town of Alba-la-Romaine. There his seven hectares of organically certified vines are spread across two terroirs: limestone in the south and basalt further north on the slopes of an extinct volcano. This wine is the fresher younger sibling to Sylvainâs classic Syrah cuvĂ©e, âRaffutâ â and boy do we feel like joining the Babysitters Club â from young, chipper vines grown on enlivening limestone soils in the south of ArdĂšche. Triple mint, violets and roses run wild in-between, hay bales, the taste of the phrase "once in a blue moon", & a tack-y tannin, this wine wants to brand your enamel with it's undying elderberry taste and hue, then settles down the throat with a meaty herb roast of sorts, utterly delightful. Enjoy with smoked olives, interlocked arms & finishing each other's sentences.
