A drinkable My Name is Jonas by Weezer, rockin’, sockin’ & stuck in your head forEVER. Two hours south of Budapest and just east of the Danube River, the entire village Sziegl Pince resides in is essentially a couple dozen streets held together by 1,200+ old, hand-dug cellars! Winemakers Petra and Balázs are two oenologists/viticulturists working with organic farming practices and minimal intervention. An organic blend of 55% whole-cluster tart and inviting olaszrizling (welschriesling), 20% fresh n’ waxy rajani rizling (aka riesling, half with two days of skin contact), 20% honeyed hárslevelű with 4 days of semi-carbonic maceration & 5% tramini to add body. The sibling of ‘Bábel’, ‘Jónás’ is the white village blend, someplace in between a fuller-bodied skin contact and luminous white, chock-full of flowering herbs, bright fruits & tickling textures. Pour alongside finding Orion & trying to forget, for a moment, just how small we are.
