‘Poanta’ 2014

Malvazija, Friulano, Rebula & Chardonnay, Primorje, Slovenia

A rare treat from the cellar!!!! We are thrilled to offer this stunning ELEVEN YEAR OLD generous and complex Slovenian white to warm the soul. The Reia farm is located in the village of Neblo, in the region of Goriơka Brda on the westernmost edge of Slovenia, beside the border to Italy. Devoted to the balance of nature, Reia are a certified organic and biodynamic winery with numerous generations working the land together. A lesson in patience, after whole bunch pressing the grapes are macerated for one day, then aged on their lees for three years before being blended, then further aged for six months in tank, AND THEN another six months in the bottle to make sure the transformation is complete. This release was further aged in their cellar and we snapped up as much as we could on first sip, this is truly one of best wines we’ve tried all year. Summer night honeysuckle, cinnamon tree, chamomile tea, bruised yellow apple, mandarin segments, raw walnuts, a creamed honey texture & hot stone minerality. Pour alongside your next knitting project – tis the season for homemade gloves, socks, scarves & vests, oh my!
