AN EIGHT YEAR OLD resplendent, rugged and robust Slovenian expression of well-known Bordeaux grapes. The Reia farm is located in the village of Neblo, in the region of Goriška Brda on the westernmost edge of Slovenia, beside the Italian border. With a family taught devotion to the balance of nature, Reia are now a certified organic and biodynamic winery with numerous generations working the land together. We were thrilled to access a small amount of this late release, a blend of big, bold and savoury cab sauv and fruity, earthy merlot. Grapes were destemmed, and fermented for 3-4 weeks, then aged for two years in old barrels to solidify their standing before SIX more years of bottle ageing. Peppercorns a plenty, sour black cherry, oregano wrapped thyme, wild blackberry undergrowth, fig balsamic, burnt coffee beans, silken tannins & the perfect vintage leather satchel. Enjoy alongside a hearty, spicy goulash and your favourite cashmere sweater.
